Gymnasium Assistant(s) (2 of 2)
Reporting to the Manager of Athletics and Recreation, the Gymnasium Assistant provides customer service and support for programs and events in the VIU Gymnasium.
Duties:
- Provide welcoming, positive customer service for facility users (e.g., VIU students, employees, and the public);
- Support facility/events through setup, take down, and user group transitions;
- Provide information about the VIU gymnasium, programs, services, and memberships;
- Open or close the facility;
- General organization and daily cleaning of fitness equipment.
Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 plus a minimum of 6 college credits and 6 months of recent related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sports and fitness equipment.
- Ability to interact effectively with students, staff and community members.
- Physical ability to complete cleaning tasks and to move equipment such as bleachers.
