The Vancouver Island University (VIU) Bachelor of Interior Design program prepares students to be creative, ethical, and industry-ready designers through inclusive, hands-on learning that blends theory, research, and real-world practice. We empower students to lead with purpose, embrace diverse perspectives, and design for the well-being of people and the planet.
Duties:
To teach one to four Bachelor of Interior Design course sections, which includes preparation and delivery of lectures, demonstrations, assessment and evaluation of students, facilitation of student integration of theory and practice as well as provision of student support during office hours.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Interior Designer, or Interior Designer with NCIDQ certification, or Interior Designer with a Bachelor of Interior Design with 8 years of commercial and multi-disciplinary interior design work to be considered.
- Applicants must have experience teaching Interior Design or Arch related profession at the post-secondary level. Practical work experience in the field is essential. Preference will be given to a candidate who has a strong practical work experience, possess both creative and technical aptitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrate the ability to work well as a member of our team.
- Bachelor of Interior Design from a CIDA accredited school.

- Professional work demonstrating aptitude in the course material.
