Instructor(s), Bachelor of Social Work and Social Services Diploma
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services includes the Departments of Child and Youth Care, Dental Hygiene, Health Care Assistant, Nursing, Practical Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, and a Professional Development and Training department.
The mission of the Faculty is to foster student success and develop and maintain relevant, responsive, and stimulating learning opportunities that are community-based, globally and locally, and offered in a visionary, interprofessional environment that is conducive to learning and promotes health and wellness for all. The Dean and the Dean's Office lead, manage, administer and support the instructional, scholarly and outreach activities of the Faculty on three campuses with this mission in mind.
Duties:
Develop and deliver in-person and/or online course materials in the Bachelor of Social Work and/or Social Services Diploma program.
Develop from a prescribed course outline which details the course description and learning outcomes, design course content, teaching strategies, assessment and evaluation strategies, readings and resources for each module of content. The modules will include learning activities as well as any required assignments, tests, exams, exercises, and evaluative processes for the course, including all evaluation, quiz question banks, rubrics, and marking schemes.
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program. At least two years of demonstrated experience in anti-oppressive and structural social work practice. Experience in the development and/or delivery of course(s) within an accredited post-secondary institution.
An energetic, team-oriented individual with a strong background in curriculum development, teaching, and distance education. Adept at developing and teaching courses online and/or face-to-face with a focus on social work practice with diverse populations including Indigenous peoples and communities, social policy analysis within the context of communities, practicum supervision, social work practice with older adults, and mental health and substance use.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Social Work or related discipline. Online course development experience within a Desire2Learn learning management system.
