Duties:

Reporting to the International Education Associate Registrar, analyze and evaluate international student applications and supporting documents. Assess international education documents, both secondary and post-secondary, to determine equivalencies and admission eligibility of students to university programs.

Maintain accurate student records, track applicant progression through the admissions process and provide statistical reporting. Produce a wide variety of reports and letters.

Act as a liaison with faculty, departments, students, parents, agents, counselors, and other public agencies. Provide accurate and timely information to a large volume of inquiries from applicants and international representatives.

Required Qualifications:

Two-year diploma from an appropriately accredited institution. Three to five years recent relevant experience; including experience in a multicultural and/or international setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Must be able to work independently, and as a team player, Able to set priorities and handle competing tasks in a fast paced environment. Proven strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written English language skills. Demonstrated sensitivity to cross-cultural groups and empathy for clients whose first language is not English. Excellent attention to detail, problem solving and customer service skills. MS Office proficiency. Some knowledge of financial records.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution.  One year in a post-secondary admissions office, with knowledge of international credentials. Experience with VIU student record and financial systems. Fluency (written and oral) in another language.
